- Wear good footwear – During the summer, get used to wearing good footwear that you can wear while teaching. High heels aren’t doing any favors for vein health.
- Elevate your legs – Elevate your feet above your heart for 15 minutes every day after teaching. During the day, elevate your feet on a foot stool during your lunch break.
- Exercise when you can – Exercise this summer while you have extra time, and try to make it a habit. During the school year, make it simple by parking farther away from the building, flexing calves throughout the day, or placing a treadmill in front of your TV.
- Manage your weight – Being overweight can add extra pressure on your veins, so work hard to control your weight.
- Try compression stockings – Medical compression socks can improve your venous blood flow.
