Foam Sclerotherapy with Ultrasound Guidance
Some veins that need to be treated are below the surface of the skin and cannot be injected safely without the aid of ultrasound imaging assistance. These veins are larger than spider veins but smaller than varicose veins. During the vein surgery, a solution that resembles a foam is injected into the larger vein. It destroys the inside of the vein walls and causes them to stick together and close. We recommend wearing your medical compression socks for two to three weeks following the vein treatment.
After your foam sclerotherapy
- You may experience bruising and, most commonly, a hardness under the skin at the injection site. This will not be permanent and will take time to soften.
